We all enjoy browsing through our favourite fashion magazines, looking at our favourite designers and what is the latest trend. Now, young girls can too browse the fashion realm in a new magazine marketed at pre-teen girls.

But this fashion mag could be an omen for parents, introducing young girls to fashion and shopping perhaps before their time.

The new magazine, SHOP Girl will target seven to twelve year old girls and is a younger version of Australia’s top selling fashion magazine Shop Til You Drop.

SHOP Girl will be launched in September and will be a one off publication.

Editor of the magazine Justine Cullen said the magazine was designed to help parents shop for pre-teens and aims to find a balance between how the girls want to dress, and how parents believe they should dress.

But critics of the magazine say that it is a marketing ploy aimed to bombard youngsters with advertising.

Perhaps SHOP Girl is a combination of both; publishers catering for young people but also a fashion, beauty and accessory promotion tool that may teach young girls to care about their looks at such a young age.

Only time will tell as the young women’s magazine will hit stores later this year.
