Since The Devil Wears Prada film the general public have been quite obsessed with the inspiration for the Prada clad devil – US Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Formally it was only fashionistas who whispered her name but now the general public know the face of the women with a formidable reputation. This week saw her host the New York premiere of The September Issue, the R.J. Cutler documentary chronicling the making of the fashion bible’s 2007 September edition, which remains its biggest issue to date.

Wintour is even going on The Late Show With David Letterman to support it, which may surprise some as she doesn’t do a great deal of press and should be an interesting interview. A Conde Nast rep revealing to the New York Post she: “is going to ad-lib it. She’s done plenty of live TV before. She’s looking forward to it.”

The premiere of the docu was as expected awash with A-listers, from Renee Zellweger, Sienna Miller (who Wintour had previously described as “toothy” but apparently Miller hasn’t taken offence), Patrick Demarchelier, Tommy Hilfiger, Phillip Lim, Alexa Chung, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Zac Posen and Jason Wu. The other stars of the show, the Vogue staffers also joined the red carpet crew including Andre Leon Talley and Grace Coddington.
