As the curtains draw to a close on the L’Oreal Paris runway it would be appropriate to reflect on the first, hottest, popular, and somewhat bizarre designer clothes that have hit our Melbourne runway in 2009.
Night four of the festival showcased our widely recognized designers, among others, in two sold out runway shows. The first sporting designs from Wayne Cooper, Bettina Liano, White Suede just to name a few.
The second and final show of the L’Oreal Paris Runway was presented by Harpers BAZAAR. They ended the runway show just as they began; strong, stylish and confident, giving viewers the best range of Australian designer talent.
The final runway ended with simple sleek, dark designs, teamed with just a hint of colour. Top name Aussie designer Collette Dinnigan was one of the many to dress her models in elegant, fine detail dresses and for the most part the colour pallet was black.
Black shades didn’t cast a gloomy shadow over the audience; if anything they were captivated by the simple silk flow and tiny hints of colour sheik.
Runway show highlights:
L’Oreal Paris runway seven: the final of the runway shows closed with a sophisticated, glamorous end that represented Melbourne at its finest.
Runway five: This show combined genius with art and craftsmanship, showcasing delegate materials with the relaxed, laid back style. Tops and leggings were a fashion must have and soft, perforated hoodies the next casual style.
This runway also gave fashion lovers both colour and stripes and was a hit with the younger generations.
Karl Bartl’s brand “Jack London” showcased on the catwalk is possibly the next brand of menswear to take of in Australia. His slick, sassy designer suits, jeans and shiny shoes had audience members in awe, undoubtedly a runway highlight.
