They’re tall, tanned, beautiful and runway ready- one would certainly not describe future models as ‘bogan’. But Australia’s Next Top Model contestant Cassi Van Den Dungen has proven with her “foul mothed”, “chain smoking” attitude that she has what it takes to star on the Australian catwalk. Van Den Dungen is one of the final two contestants left on the popular fashion series Australia’s Next Top Model.
Her style is unique, this seventeen year old Sunbury girl is not your classic ‘prim and proper’ model. Judge of the 2009 series Charlotte Dawson has likened her to famous model Kate Moss for her “risk-taking” and “extraordinary beauty”. Dawson told The Age “Some of the best models are those who’ve got a bit of mongrel in them, the risk takers like Kate Moss, and I think Cassi fits that mould,”.
Although her beauty is unquestionable, her motivation to win the popular model series is, Dawson telling The Age “Cassi is without a doubt an extraordinary model if she wants to be, but does she want to be? That’s the problem”.
The beauty queen has her own fashion style and attitude to match, gaining her “bad girl” reputation throughout the top model series. Over the weeks, she’s become the model with attitude, throwing hissy fits, tears, vomiting, dropping the “F Bomb” on the runway and punching a hole in the wall.
Before entering the show, seventeen-year-old Van Den Dungen was your average year ten student at Sunbury Secondary College but entered the model competition from her mothers suggestion.
The feisty model looks good on the runway, but will her looks, fashion style and catwalk strut be enough to impress the judges and take out the Australia’s Next Top Model title? As Zoolander says, sometimes there may be more to life than just being incredibility good looking.
Watch this ‘bogan’ fashionista do her thing on the top model catwalk tonight, at 7.30pm, FOX8.
