Summer is the season for shirts, shorts and thongs. While thongs and shorts are great ways of complementing an outfit, they do not really dictate the entire get-up, and therefore it is essential to have expressive shirts that really make the outfit you are wearing.

One store that believes in this theory is the T-Bar in Australia.

T-Bar believes the T-Shirt is the most dominant form of personal expression and that individualistic, style-driven, high quality T-Shirts are essential in this day and age.

The store regularly injects new styles and flavours in to the fashion industry, and one of their best ideas is to maintain individuality.

The T-Bar has a policy whereby no particular design can have more than 50 cuts nationwide. This reduces the chance of seeing someone else with your shirt on, and increases the individuality aspect of clothing.

To spread the creative vibe and the idea that art and design can be worn, the T-Bar also invites local and international artists to create their very own T-Bar designs.

There are frequent guests artists and numerous one of designs by random student designers.

The T-Bar franchise has 14 stores across Australia and one in Singapore, and the chain really has an underground cult feel to it.

They do not advertise and are solely driven by word of mouth.

The T-Bar really is a must see store for all the t-shirt lovers across the world, and with no shirt more than $40, they are also a bargain deal.

Every year we welcome new trends and say goodbye to the old, outdated styles we were so used to the year before.

This year, it seems one of the trends which is taking over is the use of the plain t-shirt.

Plain shirts are something that was almost frowned upon a few years ago.

Wearing a t-shirt with no graphics on it, no pattern, and no design on it generally meant that you were too poor to be able to afford a designer shirt, or just way behind the styles to know any better.

Years later, however, and the times are much different.

With the public becoming bored with the never ending designs, and the overboard lengths clothing labels are going to to ensure they are different and stand out above the rest, the public seem to be shifting back towards the safety of plain t-shirts.

The good thing about plain shirts is that they can go with anything, and as there is no design or pattern, they match better with most clothes you have.

In addition, they do not distract people when they talk to you, and sub consciously others will be more focused on your face and eyes than on what you are wearing.

Finally, one of the greatest benefits of plain t-shirts is the cost.

Designer shirts generally retail around the fifty-dollar mark, but plain shirts are going for half of that, meaning you can basically get two for one!

It’s hard to tell what colours suit your skin tone, hair and eye colour. The wrong one can completely drain you, making you look ill, but the right colour can transform your look, making you look younger and more radiant.

The task of finding the right shade becomes more difficult if you don’t have an honest friend there to tell you what to go for and what to avoid. Here is a basic guide to stick to if your friend is indisposed!

If you have:
- Black or dark brown hair, olive skin and blue, brown, hazel or green eyes: go for bright navy blue, royal purple, pillar box red, emerald green and fuchsias. If this is too bold then try icy pastels.
- Dark hair, fair skin and blue, brown, hazel or green eyes: go for jewel hues such as emerald green, Chinese blue or ruby red.
- Golden brown, red, auburn or chestnut hair, fair skin and dark brown, hazel or green eyes: go for warm colours such as orange, gold, apricot, salmon, bright yellow, green and blues.
- Golden or light red hair, olive skin and dark brown, hazel or green eyes: go for brights like orange, tomato red, citrus, purple and jade.
- Blonde, golden brown or red hair, fair skin and blue coloured eyes: go for yellow-based colours like peach, camel and golden yellow. Other colours to look out for are ivory, bright green, red and clear blues.

American eco-fashion label Gypsy 05, have just launched their Oct/Nov 09 collection – I want every single piece!!

It’s cheeky and playful in a blasé manner for the Gypsy 05 devotee. Volume 3, in true Gypsy 05 fashion, brings an eclectic combination of styles and colours to the eco-chic wardrobe. Perfect for an Australian summer.

This season’s collection incorporates designs that invite spirited individuals to express their eccentricity. The range allows for inventive exploration yet remains modish and exciting, combining bright hues and earthy tones. The look embodies all things Gypsy 05 by creating eco friendly items that are dynamic and relaxed. Tie dye leggings and skirts form part of this signature look along with ethereal maxi dresses and oversized sheer tops. Splashes of summer reds and yellows enhance the frivolously feminine dresses.

The casual hoodies and tracksuit pants add animated colour to a wardrobe essential. Volume 3 delivers flirty Gypsy05 basics and adds a dash of mischief to create a zealous new range.

As well as looking fabulously boho Gypsy 05 has another string to their bow, making them a fashion label above the rest. “Good planets are hard to find,” is the motto that first began Gypsy’s fight against environmental exploitation in the spring of 2005. In an effort to further demonstrate that being environmentally aware and looking awe-inspiring can be one and the same, Gypsy’s one of a kind designs, incorporate organic fabrics, low impact dyes and water based printing in every collection.

Aiming to be more than just an artistic statement, Gypsy 05 suggests the importance of smelling the roses, as opposed to picking them; of getting inspired by the majestic beauty of the vast ocean, rather than polluting it.

The fabulous new “trashy street glam” label Evil Twin has come to our attention and we bow down in her presence.

The new Transeason collection: ‘Alls Evil in Love and War’ is an eclectic mix of 80’s grunge, trashy glam, and punk statement streetwear. The label is led by formidable fashion force Jodie McKenzie. Growing up as a twin, Jodie spent the first 10 years of her life wearing the same outfits as her identical sister, which may explain her completely individual style today. She also cites her sister as a huge design influence, saying, “she wears a lot of bold punk and 80’s vintage…she takes fashion risks and I admire that”. As the designer of every piece, she adores the whole collection but does have her particular favourites – “The ‘Running with Scissors’ Vest – I like statement layering pieces, and the stud/fringe/tie-dye combination is perfect for throwing over a simple outfit. I’m a big t-shirt dresser, and love the ‘Screaming Banshee’ Silk Tee – the fact this one is made from silk gives it that little-bit-special dressier feel. I’m also a sucker for an attention grabbing dress, so the ‘Roses are Forever…Overrated’ and the “Oh, This Old Thing?” dresses are also personal faves”.

There is a range of statement pieces in the collection, from torn tunic dresses, leather shorts, and rocker motif tees, to khaki vests, denim shirts and slouchy tanks, each piece from the collection is designed to add an edge when mixed with other brands, or pulled together to create an enviable Evil Twin ensemble. With touches of military in every piece, a clutch of skeletal themed pieces including the ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ tunic tank with spine graphic running down the back, and a strong rose print motif featured throughout.

You can look good in the hibernation season in Toddy’s limited edition, tuxedo print onesie to keep you warm indoors. You can purchase these stylish pyjamas to cuddle up wth your favourite blanket and a hot cup of coco.

The onesie pyjama is a relatively new concept to pyjama fashion. I’m sure you have all worn one when you were a small child, but now it is fashionable to wear around the house. Toddy’s tuxedo print is a full waist coat, complete with a carnation and bow tie. (Who wouldn’t want the whole deal when sporting a comfy suit?)

The PJ suit looks so good, it could even be worn if you needed to quickly dash up to the shops- with a jacket over the top of course. Toddy had the onesie in their PJ collection last year but owner Michelle Legge told The Vine she made a limited edition one of just 30 suits for this years winter.

The inspiration from designer Karl Lagerfeld and his collections is that he believes we should all head to bed as though we are expecting a lover, but these Toddy pyjamas will not make you feel ‘sexy’ but rather playful.

Inspiration for the Toddy onesie was more of a playmate and fun style sleepwear. Legge says the new onesie brings out a childlike manner and allows everyone to “indulge your inner kid”.

So if you wish to get into your play side and become warm, stylish, funky and fun, get yourself a pair of Toddy onesie PJs. After you put them on you will never want to leave the house. Who knew staying indoors would be so fun?

Calvin Klein’s Spring/Summer collection has jeans that will make us feel like the models we see on the runway. Their unique cut and denim is styled to suit any body shape and size and we all know that a good pair of jeans is needed in any wardrobe.

This seasons jeans are focused on the light denim print and as usual, the jeans are sexy in style. Unlike previous collections, CK’s 09 jeans are not super tight and are designed to sit higher on your hips. Belts with shirts tucked into jeans are the latest jean trend and one that the Calvin Klein collection have included.

The light washed colour allows you to match any shade and style top, making them jeans you can wear on any occasion. Dress them up or down. With Calvin Klein you can be comfortable and look sexy stylish.
