Victoria Beckham has finally launched her new collection at the New York Fashion Week and so far so good for the former Spice Girl.

In what is her fourth collection to date, Sundays display revealed a beautiful mix of colours – burnt oranges, teals and electric purple which were set alongside shimmering metallic’s and nudes.

In typical Beckham style the models wore big sunglasses, skyscraper heels and all had slender bodies.

However, the lady of the moment decided to take a more causal approach to the launch, and wore grey skinny jeans, a glamorous fur and a pair of towering platform ankle boots.

After the impressive display of her collection, Beck’s then went on to reveal her plans to open her own clothing store within the next five years.

In contrast to her previous collections, the 35 year-old mother of three decided to steer clear of the form-fitting dresses and opted instead for softer silhouettes, incorporating cowl necklines and feminine draping.

Fashion Editor Didi Danso was full of praise for the new player in the fashion world, giving her the following accolade:

“She has taken into account all body shapes. Believe it or not, her clothes aren’t just for skinny minnies.

“A black skater-style dress with full skirt and waistband would definitely disguise a pear shape. And her use of corsetry – some of it concealed – ensures that curvier ladies will look great in her designs too.

“This line was elegant yet wearable, offering a dress for every occasion – from slouchy sweater dresses ideal for the day to red carpet-sweeping evening gowns.”

A tragic day for the fashion world with the passing away of British designer Alexander McQueen, after her was found dead in his home on Thursday.

His death comes only days after posting anguished online remarks about the death of his mother.

While there has been some talk about it being a possible suicide, there has been no confirmation by police and close authorities have already said on numerous occasions there are no suspicious grounds to the 40 year-olds death.

In regards to his clothes, McQueen designs were sexy and distinctive, dramatic and different, perfect for red-carpet presentations and late-night rock gatherings.

His catwalk events were always full of excitement and energy, and we will always remember his adventurous attitude.

On one occasion he sent out featured models with head-wear made of trash. On another he showed off 10-inch heels shaped like lobster claws.

The talented, bearded man had a career full of awards and accolades within the industry, and it was no surprise celebrities like Madonna, Lady Gaga and Naomi Campbell loved being by his side.

He was named British Fashion Designer of the Year on four occasions and quickly earned a reputation for his innovation and creative fashion sense.

One of his most recent collections, shown in October in Paris, featured elaborate and highly structured cocktail dresses.

Critics have raved about the talented designer for years, and it seems that the industry will sorely miss the creative mind of Alexander McQueen.

Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra has released her newest range of contemporary bridal wear for those into traditional trousseau.

The new line features an abundance of Brocades, velvets and his favourite nets in a wide range of vibrant and rich colours.

As well as catering for the female side of the population, men are looked after well with many fine anarkali suites as well as jahengas teamed with contemporary tops and heavy dupattas.

The famous designer said at his press conference ahead of his Kimaya store launch at the start of the week that now was the right time to unveil his new designs.

“This is the best time of the year to come up with this line. Earlier brides used to stick to traditional wear on their wedding but now with the concept of destination weddings gaining popularity, brides-to-be are opting for a mix of traditional and contemporary designs,” Malhotra said.

“Resort wear becomes very popular in December-January. Brides are tired of wearing heavy stuff especially if the wedding is taking place in Goa or Thailand.

“So a contemporary yet traditional outfit fits the bill perfectly.”

Malhotra, who has designed for famous Bollywood actresses such as Kareena Kapoor and Kajol, said that shopping for the big day can often be a tough task, and one made easier by his range.

“The common problem with all brides-to-be is that they are very confused. So it’s very important for any designer to sit with them, understand what they want and what actually will look good on them and then zero in on an outfit,” he said.

“After all every bride wants to look good on her wedding day but very few actually look good because most of them have the tendency to go overboard.”

New designer in the fashion word, Victoria Beckham, has had a horrid start to her new found career in the industry – her new range of stock has been stolen at knife point!

The collection is believed to be worth around $800,000, with 50 – 75 individual garments hijacked.

The majority of the garments were believed to have been dresses, which were on their way into some of the worlds A-list celebrities wardrobes.

Former Spice Girl, Beckham is believed to be shocked and upset after the incident.

The new range was stolen from a truck that was on its way to the airport, where it was expected to make its journey over to New York.

It is believed the operation was meticulously planned.

After picking up from Victoria’s London office, the van went to another address to make a delivery.

On return, the driver noticed that the vehicle’s padlocks were broken.

Two men then launched out of the back of the van and ran away with two large boxes of dresses.

No one was injured, however, the driver of the truck suffered minor scratches from being pushed to the ground.

Everyone from Elle McPherson to Madonna have been spotted wearing the flashy designs and so far Beckham’s label has been generating positive feedback from the fashion world.

Police rushed to the scene but were to late to catch the offenders.

Footage has been caught on CCTV footage, but so far no facial recognition or car registrations have been made.

Great news for the fashion cinema world with Matt Tyrnauer’s latest documentary film, Valentino: The Last Emperor, Making the shortlist for next years Documentary Feature Oscar.

The film that follows the lives and careers of the Italian design guru, Valentino, and his business partner Giancarlo Giammetti.

The feature film debuted in March this year, screening over hundred of theatres across the world.

While the news was comforting for directors of films in the genre, critics were left scratching their heads at why the more successful film, September Issue, which is considered a real-life Devil wears Prada, was not nominated.

The list of fifteen will soon be cut even shorter to just five finalists, with the winner to be announced at next years Oscars.

Many fashion critics believe Tyrnauer deserved the honour of making the final cut, as he had to deal with one of the most difficult people in the industry, in Valentino.

If the Academy Award judges agree, the film would acknowledge the increasing importance of fashion in film and may trigger off a new wave of fashion movies next year.

Valentino: The Last Emperor will join a A-class list of films also nominated for the coveted award, including “The Beaches of Agnes,” “Burma VJ,” “The Cove,” “Every Little Step,” “Facing Ali,” “Food, Inc.,” “Garbage Dreams,” “Living in Emergency: Stories of Doctors Without Borders,” “The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers,” “Mugabe and the White African,” “Sergio,” “Soundtrack for a Revolution,” “Under Our Skin,” and “Which Way Home.”

Despite all the rumours, Gossip Girl star, Blake Lively will not become the next star of Posh Spice’s new fashion range.

The busty actress was whipsered to have been the new face of Victoria Beckham’s new spring 2010 collection of dresses earlier this week.

It was believed that after the pair me at a New York fashion festival last year, they hit it off so well and realized they both shared a strong passion, with similar interests in the fashion industry.

Since the meeting, the two have been known to help each other out, with Blake being spotted on the red carpet in a number of Posh’s gowns, while the former Spice Girl has been rumoured to be making a cameo in the popular teen show.

However, despite the gossip talk, the rumours were dispelled today after a Beckham spokesperson spoke out publicly.

“I don’t know where this one has come from (the rumours) other than from Blake being a fan of the Victoria Beckham collection,” the spokeswoman said.

“She is not Victoria’s ‘muse’ and there is no ‘face of’ the advertising campaign.”

Many other celebrities have already been rumoured to be the new face of the collection, including Elle Macpherson, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Lopez and Lively’s Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meester, who have all been seen in the new range of dresses.

Good news for posh spice fashion lovers, with news that Victoria Beckham will be expanding her fashion label in the near future.

The former Spice Girl has so far enjoyed considerable success in the fashion industry, with many celebrities already spotted wearing items from her VB collection.

Some of the big names to have donned the threads include, English media personality Carol Vorderman and Hollywood actor/singer Jennifer Lopez.

The wife of soccer superstar David Beckham is now keen to add shoes and handbags to her list of design achievements, and further enhance her fashion empire.

It has become a norm to see Beckham sport some of the world’s finest high heels and lavish handbags, however it appears she has finally had enough of advertising for her rivals, and now has her heart set on creating her own favourites.

A friend of Beckham spoke out this week about the former spice girls motives for the label expansion.

“Victoria is tired of promoting other brands. If she wears Christian Louboutin or Hermes people go and buy it,” she said

“She thought, ‘Why can’t I do this with my own line?’ Her VB collection has gone down a storm across the celebrity world. If this is repeated with her line of shoes, the range would be worth an absolute fortune.”

With the business set to expand, rumour has already circled that husband David Beckham is planning on building a design workshop for his wife at their Hertfordshire home to allow for the growth.

Chanel catwalk shows are always a fashion week highlight as they’re guaranteed to impress and delight, but no one could have guessed what they were going to do for this year’s Paris fashion week show - a hay-strewn farmyard was the last thing guests expected when they set foot in the Grand Palais in Paris yesterday.

And the surprises didn’t end there. A front row counting Prince, Claudia Schiffer, Sean Lennon and Rihanna watched as models dressed in Karl Lagerfeld’s exquisite creations not only walked, but frolicked among the bales.

As the show approached its finale, a central hay bale rose from the ground to reveal house model, Lily Allen, complete with band and backing singers. Dressed in a gold skirt, black top, black heels and tights - all Chanel of course! Lily sang her latest hit It’s Not Fair, for the star-studded audience.

Citing Marie Antoinette’s shepherdess phase as an influence, designer Karl Lagerfeld played on the country-chic theme with milkmaid-style high-heeled clogs, woven bags with appliqué flowers, and the raw-edged tweed that is the label’s signature.

“I’m from the country, darling,” Lagerfeld told reporters after the show. “I hear all this talk about organic farming and the environment and things, and I’m all for it. But there must be a certain sophistication, so it’s not used as an excuse to let things go to seed,” he said.

Models took Blackberries from quilted purses as they strode the stage, some in tights with a balletic trompe l’oeil ribbon design, others barefoot, like glamorous flower girls.

There were trends aplenty, from lavish puffed sleeves and short, full skirts to lace, of which there was lots, playing on the lingerie trend that has been so strong of late.

The final look, according to tradition, was a bridal one, and the barefoot model, who carried a bouquet of wheat, looked every inch the beautiful country maid. But she was not as sweet as she looked, as she pushed her groom onto the ground, to be joined by another model for a three-way romp in the hay.
Lagerfeld, who took his bow as the models frolicked, hinted that his ambitions had been even wilder.
‘We had little pigs that we were going to bring into the hall, but they were so smelly we didn’t dare to let them out,’ he said.

It’s a contribution to the Tribute To Fashion charity project for the Abruzzo Region, organised by Coca-Cola Italia in conjunction with the Municipality of Milan. The profits of the bottles bought will raise money for the survivors of the terrible Abruzzo earthquake a few months back. Many are still struggling to put their lives back together.

“I jumped at the chance to participate in the Coca-Cola Light project because it was for charity and I thought it was important to collect funds for the survivors of the Abruzzo earthquake,” says Moschino creative director Rossella Jardini. “My interpretation of the Contour bottle featured all of Moschino’s iconic elements; the flamenco dancer, the bow, the clouds in the blue sky, and the Contour – instead of the bag – dipped in chocolate.”

The designs – in total, eight women, also deemed to be ambassadors of Italian luxury worldwide, were asked to dress the Coca-Cola Light Contour bottle – were shown on the catwalk in the Palazzo Reale courtyard and copies of them will now be displayed in spots across Milan as part of the Fashion and the City open-air exhibit.

“I’m pleased that through the open-air exhibit, Coca-Cola and the Municipality of Milan have made fashion more accessible and closer to citizens,” adds Jardini.
